Bio
Shevon Stoddart is a unique and original talent in two diverse and challenging careers - music and athletics.
Born in Jamaica and raised in New York, Shevon knew from a young age that she wanted to be a musical entertainer. She performed for patrons of her mother’s hair salon, and quickly created a lot of buzz. She possesses a fearless vocal style – a style influenced by Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Toni Braxton, but all her own nonetheless.
As Shevon’s musical horizons continued to expand, she also discovered that she had quite a talent for running – a talent she developed through lots of hard training. That hard work got her a full athletic scholarship to the University of South Carolina.
Upon graduation, Shevon turned pro and qualified to represent the powerhouse Jamaican Olympic track and field teams in 2004, 2008, and 2012 (although she was sidelined due to an injury in 2012).
Today, Shevon is one of the top-10-ranked 400m hurdlers in the world, and is a favorite to medal in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Shevon is timing the launch of her musical career to coincide with several high-profile meets in the 2015 and 2016 seasons (culminating with the Olympics), and she has already recorded the material for her debut album (set for release later this year).
Throughout her endeavors, Shevon is a businesswoman. She maintains a strict focus on her health and nutrition, understanding their importance to her ability to perform at her peak. For that reason she is excited about the ways she can leverage her talents and her influence by weaving YOR Health products into her world, and how they can help her to realize her plans for a health-based nationwide coaching organization to increase kids’ fitness and self-esteem through having someone believe in them.
